Amazon Sucks at Search

They really do. They suck so bad at search, that I often don’t buy things because I can’t find them. What is really surprising is how bad Amazon sucks at searching video.

Look for new releases and.what you get are videos that have been newly added to Amazon’s catalog including 60 year old films. It’s a joke. But wait, it gets worse.

We wanted to see the movie “Man on a Ledge”. My Blu-Ray is registered with Amazon Instant Video, so I connect through it and search for “man on a ledge”. The first result is “Man on the ledge”. Then “The Ledge” and inexplicably, “Contraband”.

The movies I searched for is on page two of the results. Page f’ing two. I only found this out because I searched for it on my computer and drilled through a labrynth of options before I found it.

It was only because I recalled how bad Amazon sucks at search, that I had the whacky idea to go to page two and see if the word-for-word title was there. It was. Why it wasn’t the first result is beyond me.

Amazon should fire whoever wrote that broken piece of code and hire some who can get it right. Hell, I’ll write it and give it to them just to get past the aggregation.
